Bitterne Park Bathroom Resealing

Bathroom resealing across Bitterne Park and nearby, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a one-year guarantee.

  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • Two layers of silicone, both failing
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles

DIY versus a professional finish

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.

Bathroom resealing in Bitterne Park, done properly

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Bitterne Park. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. Around Bitterne Park, you will mostly find houses and bungalows, from older cottages to newer builds. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do in a big town.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Bitterne Park and across Southampton.

Mr Mastic applicator sealing the vertical joint between a glass shower screen and tiled wall

How the job changes by surface

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Shower trays & enclosures

Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Common questions in Bitterne Park

I let a flat near Bitterne station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Is Bitterne Park in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Bitterne Park is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes, always, and completely. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old sealant comes out first.

What sealant do you use?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll tell you what we are using.

Are you insured?

Yes, we’re fully insured for domestic and commercial work.

Should I try DIY first?

It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.

Does the resealing come with a guarantee?

Yes, a 12-month guarantee. Good ventilation and gentle cleaning help it last.

When it is not the sealant

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What affects the quote in Bitterne Park

For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:

  • The product the joint needs
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What to tell us for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job and send pictures if you have them.

When to call us in Bitterne Park

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Mary's Independent School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the cure time is
  • How the colour is chosen
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint

10 questions to ask before you book

What we do, step by step

At the end, we look at the finished work together. The visit itself usually takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, depending on how much there is to do. In a smaller place like Bitterne Park, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Aftercare tips

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Wait for the cure time we give you

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Bitterne Park

Bitterne Park is within about 3 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Rented homes near Bitterne station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. If you live in an older home near Church of Ascension, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Bitterne Park is about 1 mile east of Southampton, in Southampton. Bitterne Park gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a one-year guarantee. Bitterne Park is one of 40 places in Southampton we cover.
