What affects the quote in Wantage

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • The amount of work
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The type of sealant required
  • When we can work, for business premises

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What we need to know

When you contact us, these details help:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Where the property is
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The type of property

We don’t publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Wantage?

Silicone doesn’t last for ever. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Mary's School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

What your quote should include

  • Whether VAT is included
  • How long to leave it before use
  • Whether you can choose the colour
  • Who turns up on the day

FAQs for Wantage

Is Wantage in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Wantage is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.

What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Wantage?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can I do it myself?

You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.

Is it messy?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

What colours of sealant can you use?

You’re not limited to white: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We will talk it through when we quote.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes, we do. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away. Every trace of the old bead is removed first.

Why it’s worth doing now in Wantage

Sorting it now is quick: it takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating. Around Wantage, failed sealant lets water into hidden places, such as under the floor, behind a panel or into a wall. Left alone, that means rot, damp and a bigger repair.

Combining jobs into one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits. We will give you a clear price for the lot.

What sealant work cannot fix

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms

The process

At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The work normally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, depending on the size of the job. A visit in Wantage needs access to the work and a place to park close by. If the job is outside, mention gates, side access and anything above ground floor.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Keeping the joints in good condition

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
