Regrouting in Oxford, done properly

Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. If you have a grout colour that no longer suits the room and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, we can put it right.

Oxford is big enough to have housing from every era, from period houses to modern flats and estates. Whatever the age of the home, sealant and grout in bathrooms and kitchens wear out in the end.

Every job is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A leaking shower valve or waste

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we seal

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms

Can I do it myself?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Oxford

Oxford has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Homes close to St Clement's Church include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you let a flat or house near Oxford station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Oxford is in Oxfordshire. Whether you’re in the middle of Oxford or further out, regrouting is available for homes and businesses alike. We cover 443 towns and villages across Oxfordshire.

Questions from Oxford

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Oxford station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.

Can you do regrouting in Oxford?

Yes, Oxford is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work.

Which products do you use?

The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.

Can I do it myself?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

Is the work guaranteed?

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, including regrouting.

Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?

Yes. Many customers do. Darker grout can hide marks, while lighter grout brightens a room.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, we can. More than one area can go on one quote.

Common problems we fix in Oxford

Hard water and soap leave a film on grout that is hard to shift. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, which is when replacing it makes sense.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Good tiles let down by tired grout

Schools such as East Oxford Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Quotes for regrouting in Oxford

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Access and height
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • When we can work, for business premises

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What to tell us for a quote

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that is easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work.

Why act early in Oxford

Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, and then you are looking at retiling. Dealing with it now keeps it small. In flats, shops and offices in Oxford, a failed joint can let water into the unit below or behind a wall, where it can go unnoticed until the damage is done.

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and lets water in.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

How the visit works

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In central Oxford, parking can be tight, so tell us about driveways, permits or nearby car parks. Let us know about stairs, lifts or shared entrances too.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
