Landport Bathroom Resealing
Baths, showers and worktops in Landport need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
How we handle bathroom resealing in Landport
A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. Every bit of old silicone comes out, down to the thin film left on the tiles, after which the joint is degreased and any mould treated. New silicone goes on only when the joint is fully dry. We work on shower trays & enclosures, sinks & splashbacks and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and leaks into the floor or ceiling below.
Even in a smaller place like Landport, bathrooms and kitchens see heavy daily use. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: all the old material out, the joint cleaned and dried, then new sealant or grout.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

How the job changes by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
There are usually two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Sinks & splashbacks
Splashbacks in glass, tile or acrylic meet the worktop in a long joint. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- How much there is to do
- How easy the joints are to reach
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- How many areas need sealing
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Whether it has been sealed before
- The problem you’ve noticed
- The address or postcode of the job
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job.
Honest limits
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. Sealant will not put right:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think.
Surfaces we seal
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
What else we do in Landport
How it works
At the end, we look at the finished work together. The work normally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, depending on the amount of work. Parking around Landport is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any tricky access
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any parking rules near the property

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email pictures if that is easy.
Related advice
Can I do it myself?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.
Aftercare tips
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
Clean the silicone with care: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Bathroom resealing in Landport: local notes
Landport is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
For landlords with property near Portsmouth & Southsea station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. Managing a site like Ark Dickens Primary Academy? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of All Saints, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
