Bathroom resealing near Basingstoke

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Basingstoke

Baths and trays move. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as King's Furlong Infant School and Nursery, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Questions to ask before you book

  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • What happens if the job turns out different
  • Whether VAT is included

Our hiring checklist

Bathroom resealing in Basingstoke, done properly

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on basins & vanity units, baths and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and black spots spreading through the bead.

A large town like Basingstoke has plenty of rented homes, and rented bathrooms and kitchens see heavy use. Fresh sealant and clean grout help a property present well between tenants and stop water getting where it shouldn’t.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

What happens on the day

A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, protect the area around them, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Commercial jobs in Basingstoke can be planned out of hours where a building cannot close, while home visits are arranged within our normal working hours, Monday to Saturday.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Before we arrive

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

When something else is needed

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think before booking.

DIY versus a professional finish

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

How the job changes by surface

Wet rooms

A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.

Basins & vanity units

On a basin, neatness shows: so we keep the line tidy and even, in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Basingstoke

There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Basingstoke. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For landlords with property near Basingstoke station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. In the older streets around St Michael's Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:

  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Asking for a quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

We don’t publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To get started, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Wait for the cure time we give you

Treat the new bead gently when you clean: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.

Basingstoke questions

Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Basingstoke?

Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.

Is Basingstoke in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Basingstoke is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Can I do it myself?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Will it make a mess?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, including cutting out the old sealant. A whole bathroom plus the kitchen may take most of the day.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then a colour-matched bead is laid.
