Bathroom resealing in West Berkshire: how it works
Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it. Every trace of the old sealant is taken out and replaced with anti-fungal sanitary silicone. Typical jobs include a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away, across sinks & splashbacks, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, including the tidy-up.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Also close by are The Diamond Tap (under half a mile north-east), St Nicolas C.E. Junior School (under half a mile south) and St Bartholomew's School (0.6 miles south-west). Where we work in West Berkshire
In West Berkshire, bathroom resealing takes in flats, houses, rentals and businesses, from Newbury, Thatcham and Burghfield Common to the quieter places in between. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
Hard water across most of the South East leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. For any job in West Berkshire, joints are cleaned back properly before anything new goes in.
Newbury: Schools such as St Nicolas C.E. Junior School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Rented homes near Newbury station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. Several sites can go on one quote.
Why act early?
Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether you can choose the colour
- What the cure time is
- What product goes in the joint
- Who turns up on the day
Aftercare tips
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
When it isn’t the sealant
In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Failed grout lines across the wall
Quotes for bathroom resealing in West Berkshire
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The number and length of the joints
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether the work is at height
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What we need to know
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Roughly how big the job is
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Any previous sealing or DIY work

Your questions about bathroom resealing in West Berkshire
Where are you based?
We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover West Berkshire, along with the rest of our area.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured.
Do you work in West Berkshire?
We do. West Berkshire is part of the area we cover.
Is it messy?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected.
