About our gutter sealing in Colchester

It’s easy to live with a dripping gutter joint, but the water lands on the same spot every time it rains. Sealing it is quick if the gutter is otherwise in good order. If you have gaps along fascia and soffit joints and water running down the wall below the gutter, we can put it right.

In a large town like Colchester, plenty of buildings are rented or managed, and outside joints are easy to forget. A failed joint above a door or a dripping gutter end is usually the first sign.

Our work is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

When it isn’t the sealant

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken
  • Boards that have decayed or split
  • Leaks from the roof rather than a joint

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Soffit joints
  • uPVC fascias
  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter joints
  • Roofline trims
  • Gutter end caps

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

FAQs for Colchester

Is gutter sealing in Colchester guaranteed?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Do you cover Colchester for gutter sealing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Colchester is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.

Can a leaking gutter joint be sealed?

In many cases, yes. Cleaning, drying and resealing the joint usually works. A split or warped section needs replacing.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

We work for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

What the job involves on each surface

uPVC fascias

Fascia board joints can open up. We seal them neatly with a matching sealant where possible.

Gutter end caps

We seal end caps from the inside where we can reach, after cleaning and drying.

Why deal with it now?

New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. If the gutter is sound and the drip is a joint, resealing is the sensible fix. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. In a large rental market like Colchester, tired sealant leads to tenant complaints about mould, damp and leaks. It’s simpler to sort between tenants than in the middle of a let.

We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

How it works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Where a business in Colchester needs to stay open, out-of-hours working can be arranged, while home visits are arranged within our normal working hours, Monday to Saturday.

  1. First we trace the drip and check the gutter is not damaged.
  2. We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
  3. The joint is dried before sealing.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
  5. We check the run and clear debris near the joints.

How to prepare

What affects the quote in Colchester

We don’t publish a price list. What we look at:

  • The type of sealant required
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Any working-time requirements on site

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What we need to know

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • The type of property
  • The problem you’ve noticed

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll take it from there.
