For landlords and businesses

Bathroom resealing in Haslar

We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the new joint is not pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. If you’re dealing with gaps between the worktop and the wall and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, we can help.

Around Haslar, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The type of sealant required
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The size of the job

What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we ask about the job first and give you a clear price before any work starts.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • The rough size of the job

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

When it isn’t the sealant

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’ll tell you before work begins. Sealant will not put right:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before booking.

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths

Why deal with it now?

You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. A new bead often brings the whole room back. If something else is wrong, we’ll tell you. Around Haslar, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.

Why book with us

  • More than 20 years in sealant work
  • We agree the colour with you first
  • A sealant colour to suit the surroundings
  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over

Haslar homes and their sealant

Haslar is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Schools such as Haselworth Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you live in an older home near St Francis, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Rented homes near Portsmouth Harbour station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Haslar is about 2 miles south-east of Gosport, in Hampshire. Jobs in Haslar get the same care as everywhere else we work: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. We cover 683 towns and villages across Hampshire.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Haslar questions

Do you cover smaller places like Haslar?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Do you work in hotels near Haslar?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Haslar?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before we start.

What should I tell you?

Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. Then ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

How long will the resealing take?

A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, old sealant removal included. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.

Does someone need to be in?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then

Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

What we do, step by step

We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower and we leave things clean and tidy. Somewhere like Haslar needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
